Spring-time Styles

It really has been far too long since I’ve blogged. I’ve been meaning to do something, anything at all for a few months now and either haven’t felt the inspiration or just simply haven’t had the time.

I’m quite proud of the content I’ve created on here and so today I’m saying hello again and welcome back. With this post I am entirely stepping out of my comfort zone by exhibiting five outfits I’ve put together for spring in the form of some super awkward pictures of myself, yay! We’ve had some glorious weather recently in the U.K. and that has, along with my recent weight-loss journey, inspired me to get more into fashion and spending a little more time putting together outfits. I’m definitely more of a makeup person at heart, I won’t deny that, but I do think that fashion kind of comes hand-in-hand with that because it’s all about how you present yourself, essentially.

I’ll try and keep the dialogue down to a minimum by just highlighting key features or reasons for each outfit choice. Easier said than done though!

My first is a casual every day outfit featuring an off-the-shoulder striped shirt which is perfect for a warmer day. I got this one from Marks and Spencer, but you can find these just about anywhere right now as they are a popular trend this season. I paired it with some skinny jeans and my new favourite bag and shoe combo ever!! Both are from M&S again and both are a beautiful olive green colour (and also the feature image of this post because they’re just pretty!). I’m obsessed with the shoes and the style of them, they’re not only comfortable, I think they look great too!

Next is a similar outfit just to show you how versatile the right bag and shoe combo can prove to be. I’m calling this one a more dressier casual vibe. All I did here was change the top up for a light-weight, white cheesecloth shirt, which is so easy to wear and I got it for an absolute steal in the sale! This is the kind of thing that can be worn with patterned trousers and can be brought out year after year for spring and summer. I’ve already worn it so much with various printed trousers.

The dungarees are probably my most favourite purchase of the year so far and I can’t tell you how much I’ve worn them in the past few months. So its no surprise that this is my favourite outfit of the bunch. I am clearly loving life in these dungarees! This particular look with the floral top from Joules underneath is particularly perfect for spring. I feel so happy when I wear this because the colours are so inviting and the dungarees themselves are genuinely so practical and comfy. I took a tip from Zoe Sugg too and added a few pins onto the front of mine to make it a little more fun. These dungarees are from Asos and are a looser fit which is perfect for me. If you get caught in a spring shower you could also stick on a pair of short wellies and the outfit still looks great. My favourite are from Joules too and they have bumble bees on them!

Next is a more professional outfit which could be appropriate for an office job or if you just fancy looking a bit smarter that day. I’m wearing a very simple grey dress with an attractive cut at the bottom to give it a little more interest. It’s from Cuddl Duds  which is a brand that make the softest clothing ever, I can’t really tell you how soft this jersey dress is! I put a simple brown belt around my waist to give it more shape, then just put over a simple beige cardigan for warmth and layers. My scarf with rose gold lines on it is from Oliver Bonas and my wedges are from Clarks but you can easily wear flats or little brown boots with this outfit, I have done! My bag is my pride and joy and my bargain from a Kate Spade outlet in Orlando but you could find a black bag similar to this in most high-street stores.IMG_7056.jpg

Finally, the outfit that might be a little hit-or-miss with some people. This is a dressier look but I’ve honestly worn it to go shopping without the hat, I’m always overdressing for things anyway so I’ve just learned to live with it really.  This is a floor length jersey dress in a honeycomb print from Onjenu. Their clothing is so colourful and interesting with bold shapes and patterns. I love this dress because its incredibly flattering, is long-sleeved and it has pockets!! BONUS! I feel great when I wear this because its comfortable due to the fabric, and that can also mean it appears to be a little more casual and relaxed. I think this will be a great dress for a summer BBQ too.

So those are the outfits I’m currently loving right now! I don’t pretend to be trendy and I don’t tend to really follow “on-trend” or current fashion hypes/crazes. I basically just know what I like and what I feel I look good in and stick with that. I wouldn’t really say I have a particular style and sometimes I do wonder when I see other bloggers and YouTubers creating these capsule wardrobes that are entirely made up of monochrome clothing. I could just never do that because it’s too limiting for me. But everyone is unique and individual I suppose! I can honestly say this post caused me to cringe so much because I did feel quite awkward in the pictures, but I’m glad I did it and it is very good practice to push oneself out of one’s comfort zone! Massive thanks to my Jack for being my photographer for the day! Poor boy gets roped into a lot for the sake of this blog so he deserves a mention.

Thanks for reading, it’s so nice to be back!

Lots of love, Steph.B
